Angela is a Dental Public Health Specialist, Southern District Health Board (based in Dunedin) and a Professional Practice Fellow at Faculty of Dentistry, University of Otago. Angela completed her dental degree at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1983 after which she worked as a community dentist, in academia and private practice in South Africa and undertook postgraduate studies at the Universities of the Witwatersrand and Stellenbosch.

She immigrated to New Zealand in 2003 and practiced in private practice in New Zealand and Australia. Angela joined the Southern District Health Board in 2010 and completed her Masters of Community Dentistry in 2012. She is currently working towards a PhD in dental public health.
